Mrs. VerSchave from Chicago IL is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need individual headphones for all the wonderful computer programs we have! We also need some backup parts to fix anything that breaks!

I teach at a public school in Chicago, IL with a majority of our students coming from low income families, and where 100% receive free lunch and breakfast. We are a Pre-K through sixth grade school that works hard to build a family community. We often teach generations of family members, and many students come back to visit after moving on to other schools.
My students work hard with what they have, but unfortunately, they don't have a lot.
They are eager to learn and experience life, but most of them do not get out of their neighborhood to have these experiences. Our school district is limiting our funds every year, and it's hurting our students; we can't give them as much as we'd like to, or as much as they need.
We are fortunate to have some wonderful computer programs that are adaptive to our students as well as interactive. My students need headphones in order to hear everything from their lesson. These lessons are coaching the students, reading directions, giving help, and engaging the students while improving their reading and math skills. We asked for headphones on their supply lists, but the majority of my families are unable to afford the basic supplies.
The majority of our computers, in our lab, have no speakers, thus the students cannot hear anything from these programs.
Without the sound, students are often at a loss of what to do, or they are just guessing. As a result, they are not able to maximize their time on the programs and really improve their learning.
These headphones will be used every day. My students enjoy time in the computer lab twice a week, and we have six laptops in our classroom that students use daily. Every time they are using a computer, they will be using their headphones.
