Help me give my students headphones to use with their computerized reading and math lessons and tests without being distracted by other sounds in my very busy classroom.
I currently teach first grade, in at a Title I school, in an urban setting. Most of my students are English Language Learners. I also have the Inclusion Class for students with Special Needs.
All of my students are eager to learn and get good grades.
Many of my students' parents are out of work and cannot afford any out of pocket expenses. I could never think to ask for them to donate money to buy their child a computer headphone to use in my classroom.
My Project
My school does not have headphones. My students have to sit with one ear right next to the computer to listen to one of our district mandated computer programs. Many of these programs are assessments that have an effect on their grades.
My students will be able to incorporate technology with their learning.
The headphones will provide my students with quality sound in my classroom. The earcups on the headphones will be able to block out background noise. This will help my students to stay focused when working on one of the many computer programs and assessments they are mandated to take. These computer programs target my district's content standards. Each headphone is supplied in a resealable plastic bag which isolates lice from the human host they require and helps prevent their spread between equipment stored together. Space is also provided on the bag for a student name which helps prevent sharing. These headphones can also be cleaned, so they can be used with my future first grade students.
Your help will ensure that my students will be able to target their first grade content standards without being interrupted when using the computers in my busy classroom.
