Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I get the privilege of teaching and learning with roughly 160 sophomore students.
The overwhelming majority of the students at this school are economically disadvantaged minorities, with 90% receiving free or reduced-priced lunches.
The school consists of 97% minority enrollment.
Many, if not most, kids lose the joy of reading by the time they get to high school. I intend to do my part in changing this will my students through this project. Each student has hopes and dreams, and I look forward to using the funds from this project to empower them by valuing their diversity.
My Project
Learning comes in many different forms. In my class, students are given opportunities to learn using audio and video material. The challenge for me has been to make the headphones I've been given by my district last. Unfortunately, they aren't the best of quality.
The headphones I am trying to get my students are much better and I am hoping they will last them much longer to help meet their learning needs.
In addition, the Surface Pro pen will help me interact with my students on the projector without the need of an clunky Elmo.
In the past, I have had stations where one of them requires to students to work independently as they interact with some sort of video lesson. In addition, listening to music has been helpful helpful to many while working on their writing or other independent tasks. I am sure that my students will be appreciative of this generous donation to our classroom.
