This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with a majority of students receiving free lunch. We have a huge English as Second Language learner population with very limited access to technology at home. This is for a majority of them, their first exposure to the field of Computer Science, a field that is thriving with potential and success. This can be the cornerstone to sparking an interest that might lead to a life-long journey in the tech field.

My Project

We need headphones in our computer science lab because we watch different videos on programming every day. As our classroom allows students to work through puzzles, they are allowed to go at their own pace. This is where watching the videos in private, using their headphones becomes essential.

The independence and responsibility that is brought about by allowing the students to watch, lead on and/or re-watch if necessary, prepares them to be ready for the 21st century.

As we all know, students go at their own pace, allowing them the freedom to either steer their own path, or review ideas is extremely helpful.
