My students need headphones to use daily with their school laptops.

Our classroom is home away from home, as most of my students don't even want to leave school to go home. We are the Williams family made up of students who just need to be listened to and know that they are cared about. 100% of my students are African American, eligible for free lunch and come from low income families.
Chipotle could be my life, but my students are literally my life.
Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives with the recent high profile shooting case of a member of their community, as well as a police shooting, and a historic flood where many of them lost their homes or were displaced for several weeks. I just want to let them reassure them life is better than all the bad that has been happening.
My class is made up of students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, and specific learning disabilities. All of our students are performing a different academic levels and some find work quite challenging. My goal is to provide students with new skills to help them be successful in school and also society.
Our students will utilize the headphones daily when they have access to their school issued laptops. The headphones will be used during academic instruction as well as during a rewarded free time. Having working headphones for each student will provide equality among the class. Students will be less likely to argue over headphones if there is a pair for everyone.
By having headphones that work the students will keep our learning environment quiet for optimal learning.
All of our students are accessing their education at various learning levels so we don't leave anyone behind. Using headphones will help lower functioning students feel more comfortable around their peers as they learn.
