My students need headphones with a mic attached to be able to quietly but successfully complete their software program in class. This includes reading passages to practice fluency, and reading their writing that they publish.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an inner city school and are in desperate need of headphones for our students. Our middle school students are reading at a lower grade level than where they should be. I currently teach a program called "Read180" where it is split up into 3 rotations within a 45 minute class period. One rotation the student strictly uses a computer. The student reads passages, answers questions, practices spelling and comprehension. The headphones will provide the student with a close mic to their mouth to be able to repeat words, sentences, and read their writing without having to distract other students working around them.
My Project
The students spend 20 minutes on the computer during a 45 minute class period. With the headphones it allows for easier communication with the program. Each child wears the headphones with a mic to practice oral fluency, writing assignments, repeatedly read each day one of four leveled passages with varying levels of computer support. They read along with the computer audio at student-selected speeds one word at a time or phrase by phrase. They have the option to hear a summary of a video to build background information and then answer questions that follow.
