Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an extraordinary group of middle school students in the Bronx. I believe that my students, and all students, have so much potential and I want to use that to enhance their future both inside and out of education. My students are very diverse, both in their variety of cultures, their needs and their learning styles which makes my job the best in the world.
My students constantly keep me on my toes and their curious minds teach me something new every day.
Most of my students are living in poverty, have insecure housing, or are either immigrants or first-generation Americans. Most of my students have experienced trauma in their lives and all of my students are exceptional individuals who show up each and every day, ready to learn.
My Project
Right now, educators across the world are transforming the way students learn and engage. My students are learning from their bedrooms, kitchens, common rooms or family shelters. Furthermore, most of my students live in a household with many distractions whether that's there siblings, the TV or the sounds of the streets. I am putting together student care packages and headphones would allow my students to learn remotely in a more quiet and focused setting. These headphones would allow students to block out other noises or distractions so they can get their work done!
