The 12 students in my third/fourth grade self-contained classroom are enthusiastic about learning and exploring the world. Not only do they look forward to my instruction, they anticipate the rich knowledge they collectively bring to the classroom. They motivate one another with their supportive words and generosity.
It is important that my students receive the best educational experience in an environment that fosters creativity, supports all learning needs and sustains their overall well-being.
My students are a diverse group. They have a range of academic and emotional needs.
My Project
My project is to provide my 13 students with headphones so they can use iPads and computers to access online resources such as Imagine Learning, iReady and Mathletics. Students are required to access these online programs weekly for a minimum of 45 minutes a week. However, students find it difficult to focus on their assignments (most of which require attentive listening skills) when they can hear the noise from their classmate's iPad.
Having headphones will reduce noise distraction, and allow my students to perform better and understand the online lessons/activities that I assign them daily.
Currently, my students share 1 fully-functioning and 2 partially-functioning headphones from the previous school year. They enjoy using the online platforms because it supplements the day's learning objectives, especially for math. New headphones will help them learn better.
