My students are intelligent, creative, and full of joy! My classroom consists of a variety of backgrounds, interests, learning styles, and abilities. While each of my students is different and requires different supports, one thing they ALL share is their love for learning. This is especially true when any form of technology is involved. As children of the 21st century, my students need to be able to use a variety of tools and technology in order to be prepared for future careers that may not even be in existence yet. Not only that, but technology allows my students to take control of their learning in a hands-on way. I may not have control of many aspects of my students' lives, but one thing I can ensure is that they have a meaningful and engaging learning experience.
My Project
I am asking for a set of 20 headphones and 5 audio splitters for my second grade students. We were fortunate enough to have 5 laptops and 5 iPads in our classroom. With the iPads and laptops, we are able to provide more intense, rigorous, and individualized learning for each student.
Individualized instruction creates a better learning experience for all students.
Headphones help to create a quieter environment for each of my students. Students who are utilizing the iPads and laptops will be able to block out general classroom noise in order to focus on their assigned task. Additionally, they will not be interrupting the learning of their classmates with the volume from their activities.
Collaboration is also an important component of any classroom. The audio splitters I am requesting will help promote collaboration among my students as they are using technology. Devices with one plug-in meant to host only one pair of headphones, such as iPads and laptops, can turn into a plug that will support 2 sets. Pairs of students will be able to share all of the running media including educational lessons, music, and videos just by adding this simple adapter.
