We are a Title I School with many poverty stricken students. Within our school, 71.9 percent of our students qualify for free and reduced lunches with 59.9 percent of those students receiving free lunches. Each of my students is unique and has great potential.
Many of my students do not have the support or encouragement at home to promote their success.
Therefore, I often have to open their eyes to the potential each of them have. I love seeing their confidence rise as the year progresses and they begin to get a glimpse of their own potential and capabilities.
I believe each year presents a new and unique situation in which I hope to be used in the lives of the students I teach as well as the other teachers around me. I hope to inspire a generation that can help make our world a more beautiful place.
My Project
Our school has been able to purchase enough Chromebooks for each students to use one throughout the school day. However, many students do not have headphones which creates distractions for other students.
Many learning programs and some students' accommodations require students to listen to text or listen to the directions being given verbally through the program; therefore, Sony headphones would allow students to reap the full benefit of these programs without interrupting other students.
Many of my students' parents can afford to send a pair of headphones; therefore, the noise issue has been a problem on several occasions. In addition, headphones would really help my students' who have a read aloud accommodation as well as my students as a whole with the many computer-based learning programs we use to help them grow academically.
