The students at my school are from a variety of backgrounds. We are not a Title I School, though some schools in my district are. Last year we had 562 students enrolled, about 32% of whom are on the free and reduced-price lunch program.
Students in my school come from Section 8 housing, homes with 2 working parents, homes with highly educated parents, military families, parents who teach at the university, stay-at-home mom families, and single-parent families.
We have many different challenges in my school, and we are able to meet these challenges and serve our students with little extra support. The DonorsChoose.org site has helped tremendously in getting materials that we simply cannot afford otherwise!
My Project
We are very blessed in my district with technology. Not all classrooms are 1:1, meaning each child has their own device. I am fortunate to have an iPad for each first grader in my room; there are some great apps out there for learning. Of course, the ones the students like the best require sound.
We need headphones that will last longer than a couple months.
In order to achieve this goal, more money needs to be spent on each set of headphones than we have spent in the past. That is why we are asking for headphones that cost more per unit than we have looked at in the past.
Hopefully, these headphones will last multiple years and we will be able to use them with more than just our current students.
