I have quite an incredible group of kindergarteners! No matter how little they have, they always come to school with a smile on their face. They bring so much joy to everyone.
My students are makers, creators, coders, thinkers, and true inspirations that shock me everyday with their drive and ambition.
Our school has a major emphasis on STEM, and the students in my classroom enjoy making and creating new innovations. They are a remarkable crew of kids and I am so thankful to be have the opportunity to be their teacher!
My Project
I am looking to get sturdy headphones for my classroom. As a magnet school, we have a strong emphasis on incorporating technology within the classroom. We use different programs on desktops and on iPads in order to get the students engaged with technology early on. However, this was extremely difficult this past year because most of the headphones in my classroom are broken or breaking. Many of the headphones in my classroom don't work properly, making it very difficult for students to work independently on a computer or iPad.
Our classroom needs to have the ability to work independently on a device, meaning we need functioning headphones.
It has been extremely challenging trying to incorporate learning tools that are accessible to us when headphones are broken. We use different programs, such as iReady, MyOn, and Starfall which require students to listen to prompts to answer literacy and math questions or to read stories. However, since we did not have working headphones this year, we were limited on how and when we could use these tools. Have you ever heard 25 computers playing out loud at once? We have, and it is very confusing, making it difficult to do your best. Let's help my K class succeed using the technology we have by being able to hear it!
