Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at an amazing school that works hard to create opportunities for students from all kinds of backgrounds. Many of students come from difficult backgrounds, facing poverty, racism, violence and homelessness at a very young age. I love teaching where I can make a huge difference, and I love watching how much our students change in the 3 years they are with us.
We are helping teenagers grow to become successful, productive happy members of society - one kid at a time.
Most of our students come from challenging backgrounds, but they never let that stop them from success. They show perseverance, grit and determination every day, and I love being a part of helping them have unique opportunities and skills that they can use in their futures.
My Project
I always try to create unique and innovative lessons that let students challenge themselves individually. As a Design Teacher, our students have to learn to work independently and create projects that show what they are learning.
Studies show that the more you individualize learning to meet each student's needs, the better they grow!
Doing that with a large class is often a challenge. I want my kids to be able to access all of the information available to them, and not have to listen over everyone else's lessons. Having a classroom set of headphones that will survive the rigor of middle school students, AND help them concentrate at the same time would be miraculous!!!
