Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our School is a tuition-free Chinese Immersion school, which serves students from all of the bay area, based in Oakland, CA. My students are demographically diverse passionate learners who have been learning English and Chinese for 9 years.

They have been practicing their agency skills to promote environmental justice and social justice by engaging in different community services.

My Project

Our students spend 4-6 hours per week on average collaborating on their projects and developing their independent work inside their classrooms. They enjoy working on real-life related projects such as how to make a better environment or how to promote an inclusive community.

Students need headphones to do research, Zoom in with people who support their projects as well as review online resources.

Having enough headphone supplies can ensure every student gets access to online resources as well as a quiet learning environment for students next to them. With a better learning environment, students will be more focused and supported in making best use of their time!
