My Students

My students come from a rural area of the Big Island. The families of Ho'okena are hardworkers and their children are very excited about learning. I have 5 girls and 9 boys in my classroom this year.

My kids are strong-willed, creative, and full of leadership potential.

They are not afraid to speak their mind and charge after their dreams. They are learning to work hard and can play even harder.

They love to learn new things and sing songs, but iPad time is a class favorite!

My Project

Students use a variety of amazing educational apps on their individual iPads, several times throughout the day. These apps include, but are not limited to: iReady Reading, Ready Mathematics, Epic!, Waterford, and many more. Each of these programs are designed to meet each individual student's specific learning needs. This differentiation is crucial to their academic growth.

While these apps are wonderful, we do not have reliable headphones for them to use each day.

This causes a lot of commotion, confusion, volume, and eventual chaos. Having brand new, working headphones of their own will help my students to stay engaged in their lessons and ultimately boost their understanding.
