Help me give my students the tools to participate in technology-rich literacy lessons. I am requesting a class set of headphones, an organizer, and technology-safe sanitizer to create a community set for all my classes.
My students are from a working class community with ongoing financial constraints. Although we have monetary limitations, our students are fortunate to learn in an environment featuring 1 to 1 Chromebooks. I strive to create technologically-rich lessons which are diverse and creative. Oftentimes we focus on the reading and writing skills, but it is equally important for students to practice speaking and listening. These communication skills are paramount regardless of post graduate work our students choose.
Students who may not be as willing to communicated aloud in class are able to participate and share their voice with the access to technology.
Class discussions no longer belong to the loudest student in the room. Even my quietest students are empowered to share their voices. Leicester students - though from a small, Central Mass town - become global learners.
My Project
We work on literacy standards in our history and psychology classes as part of the curriculum. This is not simply about reading and writing: it's about communication skills. Technology-rich educational platforms such as EdPuzzle and Flipgrid allow all students to receive individualized learning opportunities. Our inclusion classroom setting creates challenges that assuaged by the use of technology. These tools help me reach every learner in my classroom.
Though it seems like headphones are a staple of every teen's backpack, many of my students do not have a set to bring to class.
Having this technology readily available in class would allow all my students to participate in these valuable experiences. I thank you for your help in providing my students this opportunity to learn.
