Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from hard working families that live in poverty. The majority are of Hispanic backgrounds, yet there is an increasing refugee population. Our test scores are low. We have a high population of English Language Learners.
Our students are instructed through high quality Project Based Learning and STEAM.
Our students are involved in real world challenges through research and field experiences. They present to public audience and community members. I want to show the community that poverty is not a crime, and our students are amazing kids that can do anything!
My Project
The headphones and power strips will make a difference in our day-to-day instruction. My students use headphones to research, watch videos, and listen to articles through Discovery Science during our Project Based Learning time of the day.
My students access technology daily; they need reliable headphones to be successful in their academics.
We use headphones during reading and math. My students need to hear new words and build vocabulary, as well as reading comprehension. We use technology through a math program called ZEARN. These headphones will allow students to have individualized instruction while learning new math concepts! The power strips will be used to safely charge our Chromebooks.
