This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a wonderful group of fourth grade scholars in a high poverty inner-city charter school in Indianapolis. Many of our scholars are being raised in single parent homes or by grandparents. A high population of our scholars receive free breakfast and lunch each day. No matter the obstacles my scholars face on a daily basis, they are eager to learn.
College is going to be an option for my scholars.
They just need a little help and support. They are intelligent and focused on their learning and they deserve the very best.
With your help, my scholars will get the materials they need to help them be successful.
My Project
These headphones will help my scholars when they are working on reading, writing, and math programs to improve their academic skills. Presently, the few headphones we have in our room are old and broken. This makes it very difficult for the scholars to practice reading and math skills and take assessments on the computer or iPad. To prepare for district and statewide testing, the entire class has scheduled time to use the technology available and we don't have enough headphones for each child to have a pair which makes it very difficult.
With school-wide and statewide assessments on the computer, we desperately need the new headphones so all scholars can have what they need to be successful.
