My students are English Learners from different countries such as Vietnam, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Cambodia, and Venezuela. Some have been here for over two years, but some have been in the United States for six months to about a year. They come with different levels of education, but ready to learn the language and excel in school!
We need to keep them engaged!
We need multilingual electronic dictionaries to help English Learners continue their endeavor. Many of these students were affected by Hurricane Harvey and forced to move.
With the multilingual electronic dictionaries students will be able not only to do research and complete projects, but also ensure they are showing what they are learning and expressing themselves properly. Students will also be allowed to utilize the electronic dictionaries during testing, including the STAAR test.
My Project
Help my students receive Califone headphones to use in the classroom to improve their language proficiency.
Headphones are a necessity in the English learning classroom.
With the headphones, students are able to improve their listening and speaking skills. Students will use the headphones for state assessments and everyday classroom use and testing.
The headphones will be used with programs such as Rosetta Stone, the reading app SORA, research databases such as Gale, ESL lab, ESL bits, and Flipgrid. The headphones will provide students with privacy and the confidence they need in order to succeed both on assessments and classroom activities. They will also help students with social and academic language.
