I teach 21 beautiful children in an underprivileged area of Washington, D.C. My students are some of the most bright, resilient, and caring 1st graders. Though they face many challenges outside the walls of our school, they show up everyday with a smile, positive attitude, and are ready to learn. They love to learn “the fun way” as they say.
My students have broken their headphones that were issued to them. They use their headphones on a daily basis to strength then literacy and math skills. They need headphones during their independent reading time to listen to pronounciation of words that they do not yet know. These headphones would also help them block out the sound of other students and computers, by delivering sound at a safe level for their precious little ears. The laptop stands will be used by the teachers in the classroom. We stream math and literacy content from our computers to the smart board. The students will have the opportunity to play different games to enhance the learning environment in a more lively fashion. You can imagine how excited they will be!
