My Students

My school is a small, rural neighborhood school where I consider the students my family. I have taught first grade for 37 years, most of those in the same classroom. I have many second-generation families of students come through my classroom each year. I live and also go to church in this neighborhood and volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank in the summer here. Seventy percent of the students come from an economically disadvantaged home, and many live with one parent, or are being raised by grandparents.

My students are bright, inquisitive, first graders who love to read and learn about the world around them.

Our district just started back to school face-to-face with social distancing guidelines in place.

My Project

My students need individual headphones to use with their Chrome books each day. Headphones are a necessity for today's classroom. Having their own set that can be sanitized after each use is a must in today's pandemic.

Having headphones will help my students stay on task and will help them work independently on the skills that they most need to each day.

We complete work each week on Chrome books so that students are prepared for learning virtually and the headphones will make a big difference to how much students can complete without distractions.
