Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with third grade special education students at an inner city public school. The students come from lower economic backgrounds. All students receive government subsidized breakfast and lunch. Due to the students poverty status, they are limited to possessing the bare essentials of life. Therefore, when my students come to school I want them to enjoy, relax and have fun obtaining their education.
My students are curious learners and enjoy exploring many avenues when learning.
I want my students to be excited about coming to school and have many opportunities for them to learn and grow. Having the right equipment for them to use is essential in the classroom.
My Project
Every classroom needs tools that students require to be successful. My students would benefit from using headphones when using their laptops during instruction time or free time. The headphones are durable and and they would be very helpful for the students when using their laptops.
In addition, I have to sharpen my pencils in another room since I have no pencil sharpener.
Every classroom needs a pencil sharpener. My students love helping me out with a classroom job by sharpening the pencils every day. The students make the classroom a community and everyone has a role in the community. Some students may bring out the trash, while others may sweep the floor. Helping one another benefits others and the students learn from assisting others.
