My Students
My English class is typical. We read, we write, and we learn. However, there are many things that my students need to learn this school year.
My students are from low-income families.
About 90% qualify for the free lunch program. Some of them live with grandparents or are in foster homes. That's why I want them to succeed in school. This will lead to them going to college, which in turn will lead to them finding jobs and becoming successful adults.
My Project
I have many students but some have special needs. They need materials read to them multiple times in order to comprehend. I would like to put together a listening center so that students can have materials read to them and they can push play or stop the reading to take notes.
A listening center would help my students with learning disabilities to comprehend the reading.
I have a CD player but I just need headphones. The students will listen at their own speed and get a better understanding. A listening center will help my students to become better readers.
