School is in session! We are a class of 20 enthusiastic students who are excited about exploring in fourth grade this year!
I have a class full of children who want to learn!
Our year in fourth grade will be packed with determining our passions, pushing ourselves to try new things, and collaborating to meet school, class, and personal goals. Our children come from various types of backgrounds, many from homes of poverty. Even with having tough, sometimes inconsistent home lives, our students are passionate and energetic about learning. They come to school with smiles on their faces, ready to learn and excited to find out what we will be exploring each day. Our children are some of the most resilient, compassionate people you could ever meet.
My Project
Our students need headphones to assist in personalized learning while in the classroom and at home. In order to best prepare the children for the possibility of remote learning and to become independent learners in general, we would like to record math and reading lessons ahead of time to allow the children to access as they need. The students will use the headphones for a range of activities like researching passion projects, practicing math skills through music, read alouds, and independent math and reading objectives.
During our math and reading blocks, we encourage the students to work at their own pace.
Students are able to move through lesson objectives independently. This allows us to push students beyond grade level pacing and even into standards for the next grade level. While pushing some students, this model of personalized learning allows other students to have access to in-depth remediation. Being able to have headphones will allow us to record our reading and math lessons ahead of time and open up access for students to view the lessons as they need. In today's internet driven environment, having a class set of headphones enables every child to continue to work without distracting others. In the event that our school district moves to 100% remote learning, our children will be trained and ready to tackle this challenge and continue their independent learning. COVID can't stop us!
