My Students

Our school district is within miles of Fort Hood, one of the largest Military bases in the country. Our students come from very diverse backgrounds, often experiencing multiple moves before reaching middle school.

Many of our students receive specialized instruction due to being several years behind grade level.

Although my students have large learning gaps to close, they continue to come to school every day and put forward their best. In fact, our class motto is "Hard Work, PAYS OFF" and each day we finish our class loud and proud!

My Project

As technology continues to improve, it's use in education grows exponentially. On an average day, our fifth grade students use desktop computers, laptop computers and tablets to participate in all subject area classes. We are so fortunate that our school district and campus provide computer based programs for our students to utilize to aid in our instruction.

Most of the programs use video lessons to engage the students, but without headphones our students miss some very important content.

In addition, a large population of our students require testing material to be read aloud to them because of dyslexia, special education and 504 accommodations. Headphones would greatly impact these students in all classes.
