My Students

I have such a wonderful class of sweet students. They are a fun group of hard workers who are determined to do their best work on any assignment. We do a lot of partner work in our classroom which will help them grow in the area of teamwork (an essential skill for not only now, but also their future). I always enjoy listening in to their partner conversations and how they persevere to solve problems, guiding each other when they are confused or stuck. As with most classrooms, I have a mix of students with different academic needs including students who speak English as their second language. Using headphones with individualized instructional programs will help me in meeting each student's needs.

My Project

Our district has supported our students with individualized learning through the use of computer based programs like Lexia (Core 5), i-Ready math, Reflex math for fact practice, and Reading Street digital resources. I feel like my students would be more successful if they had a quality pair of headphones that allow them to hear those individualized instructional resources. Not only is the instruction individualized, but students who speak a second language also have the option to hear some of these resources in their native language. My students also have a high interest in learning to code, which often has an auditory component. Having headphones to fully use coding resources would also help foster their creativity.
