My Students

My students are mostly minority students from low socio-economic neighborhoods. My school is a Title I school, which means we have 90% of our students who qualify or receive free or reduced lunch and breakfast services. My students face many challenges in their daily lives that affect their ability to focus and learn. Some challenges my students face include high poverty, lack of resources, lack of materials, communities that have high crime and violence, not to mention many come from other countries and do not speak the language. These are just a few of many challenges they face on a daily basis, however my students are resilient and willing to overcome these challenges to learn.

My Project

Headphones will assist my students to work on multimedia projects without the distractions to other students in the classroom. reading an article that contains a video attachment can be distracting without headphones. Some students in my classroom also benefit from read aloud.

The headphones will greatly assist in allowing the students to work at their own pace and at different locations in the classroom with minimal distractions.

Without the headphones the noise level will be greatly increased which will not be conducive to learning. Also, it would contribute to more teacher led classes, less independent work and students working at their own pace.
