Headphones and Play to Increase Learning

My Students

I teach kindergarten at a Title I school. My classroom is full of happy, energetic student that are ready to learn. A majority of my students are from economically disadvantaged households, and several of my students are English language learners.

My students love to learn and try new things.

My Project

As an outcome of the Coronavirus pandemic my students' access learning material on a device more than ever before. Using a blended model of learning, I have found that the resources used online really do help support the learning taking place in the classroom. To make this blended model the most effective, each student needs a working pair of headphones.

Funding this project would help my students be able to access the online resources we use in our class.

Another outcome of the pandemic has been the lack of social interactions my students have had before coming into kindergarten. We do an oral language block each day, and during this time I am able to help my students learn and practice appropriate social skills through play. Providing new activities such as building tiles and legos will help create opportunities for my students to interact with each other in a safe environment and develop social skills as they play with these building materials.
