Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My room is made up for 15 of scholars from Philadelphia, Chester and surrounding areas. The scholars are from overwhelming from low social economic backgrounds and qualify for free lunch making our scholar eligible for Title I. This will be the first year that any of them have attend virtually schooling.

My Project

I want to minimize distractions for my scholars as they begin their school year from home. After initial conversations with my new families, I was made aware of their concerns about virtual learning. One of the reoccurring concerns was about the noise and distractions that might keep their children from getting the most of the public education. I have created trifold boards for each of them, but after checking the school supply list, I noticed that headphones were not on the list and teachers do not have access to our usually "classroom budgets" this year.
