I teach 2nd grade in a rural school in Pennsylvania. My students are curious and eager to share and learn new ideas. They are driven, caring individuals who love to let their creativity shine!
My school is full of educators who are enthusiastic about teaching and students who are enthusiastic about learning!
This fantastic combination ensures that there is a positive educational experience for all!
Our school district is comprised of 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school serving a total of roughly 1,700 students. Although about one-third of the students come from middle to low SES lifestyles, it does not hinder their desire for learning and our ability to provide effective learning opportunities.
My Project
The students in my class are fortunate enough to each have access to their own ipads throughout the school year. However, we currently only have six headphones in the classroom. Although the students are fantastic about sharing the headphones, it is impossible to utilize them when the entire group is learning with the ipads.
Having a class set of headphones will not only increase student focus by limiting noise, but it will also allow students to concentrate on their work without worrying about sharing the headphones with their classmates.
The headphones will be very beneficial during center time, when the students work in various groups. Since the headphones will limit the noise from the ipads and will be easily accessible on a shoe rack, there will be little distraction for the other students while they work.
Some of the other centers the students will have access to are spelling and word work practice. The letter stamps will allow me to create more engaging activities for these centers. In addition, the letter stamps will be used for art projects and other fun activities.
