Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When you walk into my classroom, you will see my students working in pairs, in small groups and there is definitely a buzz. You will see students working on Chromebooks, iPad minis, and even personal smartphones.
My students are used to using many different modalities to demonstrate their understanding.
They are a group of 7th and 8th graders who are English-language learners and Spanish-language learners. They have been learning in both languages since kindergarten in our school, which is a K-8 grade school model.
My Project
In our class, our students use the Chromebooks to work on interactive math activities. Many of the software and online programs use music and voice-overs to cover content. It not only presents a noise problem and a distraction to the students who are sitting next to each other but to adjacent classrooms.
By providing my students with a variety of ways of learning, I hope to increase access to the curriculum while also giving them an opportunity to gauge learning.
Students in my classroom use online math programs and software to demonstrate their learning. The headphones will help and will be put to great use.
