I teach second grade in a school that has close to 88% of our families on free or reduced-price breakfast/lunch. We're lucky enough to have a diverse student population and have 17 different languages that are spoken. My classroom is made up of 23 second graders that come from different economic backgrounds and challenges.
My students are energetic, hard working second graders who all learn in their own unique ways.
One way they love learning is through technology on their Chromebooks! This technology is such a great learning tool for them, and I try my best to make sure they have exposure to many meaningful learning opportunities through it.
My Project
My second graders use their Chromebooks on a daily basis to visit educational sites such as Waterford, IXL, MyOn, Peardeck, BrainPop, Jr., and Kahoot. All of these sites and programs offer extra reading and math practice to my students that keep them engaged. They love learning through their Chromebooks, but many of the programs they use have sounds and words that they need to be able to hear. When there are 23 students all working in the same room, that can get pretty noisy and distracting without headphones. We started out the year with some already used headphones, but many of those are now on their last leg or are already broken, so we are in need of new ones.
New headphones would allow my students to work without the distraction of noises around them or worrying about broken or poor-quality headphones.
With your generous donations, you can help make this possible!
