Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"I want it!", "No, I had it first!", "Mrs. E. where is the book about such and such?" This is what I hear on a daily basis during S.U.P.E.R (Students Using their Powers to Engage in Reading) Time. My students are not exposed to a wide variety of nonfiction literature and it has created a problem.
My lovely second graders are bright and hard working with a ravenous desire for non-fiction books.
It is a high poverty school with not enough resources to support all of the students' needs in the classroom. Many of the students don't have access to books outside of school. They love being able to come in every day and look for books to read. They are eager to browse our classroom library, especially our small nonfiction area.
My Project
Our classroom library needs more books that are of high interest for my students. They love to read but don't always have the opportunity to pick books that are at their reading level and interest. They are eager learners, and avid readers, which is why I want to supply them with new high interest books and book bins to store them in. My students will use the books on a daily basis to encourage their love of reading and build their reading stamina during S.U.P.E.R. (Students Using their Powers to Engage in Reading) Time.
Please help add new non fiction books to our classroom library and bins to keep everything organized and safely put away.
If we can get readers hooked on books they will become lifelong readers.
