My students need a class set of headphones. They bring some headphones that are not compatible with the computers we use and many of our families do not have the means to purchase quality headphones.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our Tigers are amazing! Our students have risen our school to high performing status - A and B school grades for the past 11 years! Our students and their parents value education and it definitely shows through our students' efforts in everything they do.
Our school is a Title I, Renaissance school.
This means that most of our students are from low-income families. 91.3% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. 87.83% of our students are Hispanic, 2.67% are African American, 1.5% are Asian and 6.17% are Caucasian. Most of our students have recently come to the United States from Cuba. We also have students from many other Spanish-speaking countries.
Our school family is warm and accepting. It is a great place to learn!
My Project
Our students are required to take online assessments throughout the year in math and reading, and at the end of the year during state testing. These headphones would help the students stay focused on the content they are being assessed on and avoid distractions stemming from technology that is not functioning properly. A number of our students on free or reduced lunch and some are Hurricane Maria transplants, and do not have the means to purchase quality headphones.
Giving our low income students and transplanted students from Hurricane Maria access to quality technology is an investment in their future.
We need them to be successful with online tasks in order for them to be ready for life. Their lessons are becoming more computer based and we need them to be able to hear and process the content presented to them.
