Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our public charter school students literally win the lottery to attend the institution. Our students come from all different types of socioeconomic backgrounds, language styles, religious groups, and countries of origin. The common thread is fearless learning combined with an AP curriculum and mandatory community service requirements.
Our school is not blessed with the most bountiful of resources, and the state we live in has endured spending cuts in education for years due to falling oil prices, but we continue to do more with less.
Over the last two years, DonorsChoose.org projects funded our track and field necessities, and I am continuing to ask for your help for the 2018 track and field season.
My Project
Ripple's recent donation inspired me to create a new project for DonorsChoose.org. We haven't had a large athletic budget to purchase equipment, but for the last five years DonorsChoose.org and it's donors have come through to provide us with equipment each year.
This year our team reached the largest participation yet, with over 130 students participating (400 total population at the school!) It is the presence of equipment that allows our team to grow and the sport to flourish.
Please consider helping us acquire a new pole vault pole, starting blocks, athletic tape, javelins, discs, and shots! It means the world to us and our program.
