This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is Title I school and our students come from a variety of different backgrounds. We are located in a low-income/high poverty school district and 100% percent of our students receive free lunch. We are located near the Air force base so we actually have a diverse group of students from different countries and states. They come from different economic backgrounds, but the majority of our students are living in poverty.
Our students are intelligent, energetic and passionate about the activities they are involved in.
Extracurricular activities (sports, clubs and school gathering) are the only outlets for some of our students to get away from the emotional and social challenges they face at home. Our students are strong, dedicated athletes who want a opportunity to be successful.
My Project
Donations for this project will make a huge impact on the learning and development of my students athletic ability and academic success. We are requesting donations for soccer goals and balls to promote and support the rising soccer culture at our school. The soccer program has been around for 6 years and the number of interested students increases every year.
Our school has had several successful soccer seasons including last years 10-0 championship season.
The moral is very high on our team and the kids are always excited to play. With the culture growing at this rate I am able to use soccer as a additional way to support and motivate students academically. Our students have a clear understanding that good Grades, Attitudes and Classroom Behavior equal playtime on the soccer field and there are no exceptions. Several of our players were AB honor roll students last year and everyone passed.
The issue we are having is that we are limited on funds and need adequate equipment for games and practice. We currently need youth tournament size goals, more soccer balls and a medical kit. The goals will allow our team and school the ability to play soccer at anytime. It will also give our soccer students practice goals and goals for home games.
