We are the only Hawaiian immersion school on the West side of the island of Hawaiʻi that spans over 100 miles. One way that we perpetuate our culture and language is through our traditional dance, hula. In order to put on a hula exhibition for my students, we need to be able to raise funds to purchase fabric for costumes, implements, venue, musicians, etc.
In an effort to normalize the Hawaiian language, students would like to utilize the Cricut machine to create Hawaiʻi inspired products to sell while simultaneously bringing awareness of the language into the community.
In the creation and selling of their products, they will raise funds that they will use to purchase supplies for hula, school, field trips, etc.
