My Students

My students are newcomers to this country. They are from all around the world. Mexico, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Honduras. Some of them have has been in the country for as little as 2 weeks. When we are learning, and checking for understanding, I ask them to write it in their language when I heard "I do not know how to write."

I heard and see their excitement when they learn something new.

They are eager to learn our American culture, new words, and how math is approached.

They are proud to be answering "Yes, Sir"; "Yes Madam."

My Project

Students are offered iPads. However, students are voicing their desire of working with a normal piece of paper. When working in math, we have to go back and forth, and we have to show the steps by steps on how to solve the math problem. The technology could be limited or frustrating especially when you are learning something new. Having paper will allow my students to continue with their assignments at home regardless of having an internet connection or not. It will allow my students to continue working regardless if they have their device or not in the classroom.
