"Mrs. Peterson, I need a pencil." That's what I hear at least 10 times a day. Whether it's a pencil, paper, or notebook, my students are in need of supplies. My students come from all walks of life and many of them have parents that struggle to purchase school supplies. These students want to learn, but lack the materials that ensure their success from day one. Without many of these supplies, students fall behind on assignments and valuable class time is lost trying to find, replace, or distribute these materials.
I teach many students that are reading below their grade level and over 1/2 of our students come from low income households that aren't literature rich.
Even purchasing the most basic of supplies would be a hardship on these families.
Being able to provide materials to students that are in need would life a burden off of me and let students know that they are cared for and loved. Funding of this project will also help replace some items that have dwindled down over the years.
My Project
So many of my students come from homes where purchasing even the most basic of school supplies is a hardship for families. I spend a lot of money on supplies to help these students and I wish I could do more.
Donating to this project will help students come to class prepared each day, knowing they don't have to worry about not having the appropriate class materials.
Classroom materials matter. In 6th grades, students are shy to ask for paper or pencils to use. We use composition notebooks in class and a lot of times, parents don't see that as a necessary expense. Please help me help my students be prepared.
