My students need some books games and puzzles for reviewing the essentials they need to know in math and language arts! These quick and easy games, will give them the review they need!!!
So many state standards are constantly being pushed on our kids. Thefun in learning is diminishing quickly, and without having the love of learning, why would a child want to continue to come to school everyday? Yes, the essentials are important, but let's have some fun while we review them!!!
I have a great group of 29 students in my fourth grade classroom.
My students attend a small public school of about 400 students. I have students who struggle from English being their second language, and students born with disabilities. All students need constant review of the basic essential standards, but my EL and kids who struggle need quick ways to review on a daily basis in small groups, or with partners.
My Project
When you think back on when you were in elementary, do you say, "Yes, I remember learning MR4 2.3 standard with Mrs.E "? I don't! I remember the teachers I loved, and those are the teachers who even though they were hard, I left their classroom with the love of learning, because they made learning fun! The essential standards are taught on a daily basis, but I want a quick, and fun way the kids can review in small groups, with a partner, or during a good behavior party. Yes, a party... when it is fun, they can be learning while enjoying themselves, and not even realize they are learning. Make multiplication/division facts a competitive game, and the kids are learning, and having a great time. Give the kids an opportunity to be independent by having a Daily Language Station. This station gives the students an opportunity to practice the important language skills while feeling "grown up" because they do it on their own time when assigned work is finished. Make learning fun!
This project is important to me because I believe if kids do not love learning, then they will eventually begin zoning out more and more in class.
I want my students to enjoy school, while learning everything they need to make them successful in the years to come, but also to be a successful adult. This project is full of games that will help them continue to learn those important skills: verb tenses, vocabulary skills, multiplication/division, and dealing with money (spending & earning it)!
