Help me give my students and I art supplies for our classroom and hallways
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach Language Arts in a low-income/high-poverty school district. Many of them are being raised by single parents or grandparents. Most of them receive free lunches based on their socioeconomic status. My student's levels are from gifted and talented to intellectually disabled. In the many years that I have taught English, I have come to realize that they all want to learn!
Teaching is sometimes a challenging job, but also extremely rewarding.
Seeing a struggling student light up when they finally grasp the subject is wonderful.
Trying to keep my students interested in English is somewhat challenging during the last few months of school. It's cold and dreary outside and having our middle school building underground makes for a depressing day. Adding a little bit of color in the hallways will help improve our moods tremendously. I would also like to bring some color into our classroom to brighten our day.
My classes love to decorate our classroom and hallways for the holidays, and having these supplies available would greatly help.
Having a portable glue gun would be very beneficial for my class. Sometimes it's hard to get a corded gun into certain spots to hang my student's art.
Also, by having colorful gel pens and Sharpies, my students can brighten up their papers and bring their stories to life. Please consider helping brighten our classroom by funding our project. Thank you!
