Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a New York City Department of Education Speech Therapist in the Bronx, I have witnessed my special education students ranging from Kindergarten to Fifth grade, repeatedly face a variety of obstacles that occur both in and out of the school environment. Even though these young students face such challenges, they never stop striving to do their best. Each day they come to school with admirable positive attitudes and motivation to learn. They constantly express gratitude for the opportunities, services and education they receive.
I work in a large Title I school with a very high population of low income-high poverty residents or English Language Learners
It is my goal to help my students access their full academic potential while uplifting them emotionally and socially.
My Project
I am asking for Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards to help keep my remote students engaged and motivated during online learning this year. Students enjoy the bright, attractive and engaging activities designed by educators. These activities help their vocabulary, understanding, and various other communication skills.
Many of our students struggled with online learning in the spring and this fall.
The majority of my students do not come from homes where a parent is home to encourage or assist them with attending lessons and participating. Many parents are at work during the day so the students are responsible for independently logging in and participating in lessons. When lessons and activities are engaging, interactive and fun, they can go a long way in motivating students to attend and participate. These gift cards will contribute greatly to motivating students and helping them to make progress towards their goals. Thank you in advance for supporting my students.
