Mrs. Carter from Youngsville LA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Having Enough Technology for Everyone

My students need these Nooks so everyone in the class has one and can work on projects together.

My Students

I teach 3 classes of Reading/Language Arts in a south Louisiana rural school. I have about 27 students in each class. My students spend the year learning the foundation skills to enjoy reading for a life time.

My Reading class is a place where students can explore new worlds and have adventures through books.

Students learn to heighten their comprehension and enhance the reading experience.

The students are creative, engaged, and adventurous. They love to find new and exciting books in the library. My goal is to foster a life-long love of reading in my students.

My Project

My goal this year is to provided my students with as much experience with technology as possible. My classroom has 20 Barnes and Noble's Nooks at this time. My students love to use the Nooks every day in class. They use them for AR tests, class reviews, dictionary, Google Slides and Docs, and sending me assignments through the internet.

We need 5 more Nooks to make sure every student has access to one.

I want to be able to provide the students with the ability to type up their writing projects and send it me electronically. Using a word processor for writing projects is a real life skill my students need to practice. I would like to provide that in my classroom but I need a class set to be able to accomplish this goal.
