My students need exercise ball type seats, as well as fidget toys such as stress balls. This will allow my students to keep moving and maintain focus at the same time!

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"Good morning students! Please be seated, stay still, and quietly start your warm-up." Seated, check..... quiet, check..... still, not a chance in this high energy classroom! Movement for my students is a necessity!

My self-contained classroom consists of a majority of high energy and enthusiastic boys!

My students have a love for learning, but struggle with the ability to stay focused. Our goal this year is to incorporate movement into our daily practices to help us stay focused and engaged, while still learning and having fun! With your help we can do this!

My Project

The students in my self-contained algebra and geometry courses have all qualified for special education services. Many students struggle academically partly due to their inability to stay focused long enough to pay attention to the material being presented. The use of the stress balls will enable students to fidget silently while assisting the student to block out distractions and listen to the teacher. The ball seats will be used for the students that lack the ability to stay seated for more then a few minutes. The biggest challenge in our classroom this year is keeping students seated when necessary for instruction. The ball seat will enable those students to bounce and move at their seat, helping to fulfill their urge to move, yet keeping the students in place to minimize the distractions to others.

This project is designed to help the students in my classroom stay focused, stay engaged, keep learning, and have fun!

The ball seats and squeeze balls our class has selected will make a huge difference and promote success in our classroom. I'm excited, and my students are excited! We can't wait for someone to help make a difference and add to our level of success!
