Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from high poverty, low socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of them live in low income apartments. 100% of them qualify for government assistance and the federal free lunch program. Many of them are ELL learners and speak English as a second language. However, these barriers do not discourage their love for learning!
These students come to school every day excited and ready to improve their reading and writing.
Their parents are very concerned about their children's education to provide them a better life. Although they are disadvantaged in so many ways, you would never know it by their positive attitudes and eagerness to learn.
My Project
It's not a good time to be a student or a teacher in our state. Funding cuts have slashed our budget and supplies, paper, and ink are hard to come by. As a result, teachers are always looking for ways to save a buck or two.
As global warming increases, we are constantly looking for ways to teach children about conservation and the environment.
These paper protective sleeves, will cut down on paper use and cost to schools. Students can complete assignments using dry erase markers and sleeve protectors multiple times a day. The sleeves can also be used to save valuable reading passages to use from class to class, as well as year to year. These sleeves will be used to help multiple classes get ready for and improve skills on state mandated tests that are just around the corner.
With your donation, the kids learn about ways to save the environment, as well as helping taxpayers cut costs in their local schools!
