My students need a real-world learning experience that will enhance their understanding of science and gain background knowledge by going to the Wonders of Wildlife Museum.
Every day my students greet me at the door with a high five or some form of a handshake. They are eager to start the day and are excited about learning. What they are most excited about is afternoon play centers where they have free choice of their learning.
We are in a rural community where many of my students don't have opportunities to experience the world.
I strive to provide a brain-compatible classroom for all my students through cooperative learning and conscious discipline.
My Project
A field trip to the Wonders of Wildlife with their 4D dioramas of some of the planet's most extreme wildlife habitats and a dive into the ocean world in the Aquarium Adventure would completely surround each of my students with the sights, sounds, and smells they won't forget.
Everyone learns in different ways and at different times but we all learn the best through experiences.
We can read books to our students, do research, and watch videos all about animals but to actually SEE animals in their habitats and observe their behaviors deepen their knowledge and understanding beyond a classroom experience.
Some of my students have never had the opportunity to visit a museum such as this one and others may never be able to afford to go with their families.
It is vital to provide students with more real-world experiences in order for them to bring background knowledge to the text that they will be expected to read and understand. Having TRUE experiences will give them more connections between the texts they read.
