My students need premade math activities and games to strengthen their numeracy skills in order to build a strong foundation in math.
"Can I really take this home?" How exciting it is for my students to be able to borrow a math activity to take home and share with their families.
My students attend a public pre-k - 6 inner city school.
They are mostly Hispanic speaking and all qualify for free lunch. My major focus will be increasing math skills in kindergarten and first grade. We have implemented a new math program this year that is very demanding and our children need this extra support.
The students that have difficulty in math need extra fun activities and resources that will give additional support to help them strengthen their math skills. These requested take home math materials would definitely improve my students' math abilities with the additional practice that would be fun and interesting. My students' parents are excited to help support their children's success in mathematics so they would play these games with their child every night. The children would first use these math games and activities in the math lab and then would take them home and practice with a family member. The main focus of these games are on number sense, basic facts, and problem solving.
With these fun math games and activities, my students would get the opportunity to learn important math concepts, spend quality time with their families, and become strong and successful learners.
Not only would they strengthen their math skills, but they will also increase their sense of responsibility. They would learn how to share and take turns and enjoy learning.
