My students have a passion in their hearts for discovery and learning. Each day is a new adventure and a new learning experience for all of my first-grade students. I love seeing their faces light up as they share their new discoveries with me. Being their teacher brings me so much joy!
My students learn through hands-on experiences.
In my classroom, we are always on the go. The students use computer games to help them with math and reading. We work with fourth-grade students to help develop reading and social skills. We work in small groups to deepen understanding of tricky concepts and we work in a whole group setting every single day.
The students in my class come from a variety of backgrounds. Some students in my classroom speak two languages, and each of my students has a unique family life. I have several students with disabilities in my classroom. Several of my students struggle with playing with one another and making friends. Not only do I spend time teaching our core curriculum this year, but I also teach my wonderful class to love and accept these differences that make us each unique.
My Project
In our first grade classroom, the students spend a lot of time learning at the carpet. This helps keep them focused. Right now, my students have designated spots that are their space, but a lot of the time I find that they are wiggling and getting in one another's space. This is very distracting from their learning.
Your donation will help provide my students with a classroom rug, this will give them each their own space at the carpet and will help minimize distractions during floor time learning.
A classroom rug is something that will provide more structure to our classroom and will help my first graders better identify their own personal space.
A classroom rug might seem like it isn't too important to education, but it really is! It will help my students have more focus on what we are learning. All of your donations will go right to the rug. Students in my class spend about half of their day learning on the floor and having this classroom rug will provide students with more structure, something that is so important in first grade!
