Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are funny, smart, spunky, stubborn, eager, and all around amazing! They challenge me to be a better person and teacher every day. They are eager to learn and catch on quick-which always keeps me on my toes! I am new the classroom and the previous teacher was great-but our teaching styles are very different. This brings along challenges but I am so excited to have this group of students to love on and teach.
All of my students come from single-parent households-which comes with experiences that are hard for young children to understand.
Some have gone through poverty, seen violence, been homeless, and so much more. Even though my students have been through more in their young lives than many of us have near the end of ours-they remain happy kids that light up when they are dropped off every morning.
My goal is to get our new classroom in tip-top shape and reintroduce materials and toys that were not provided by the past teacher. We are in need of shelves, toys, learning materials, classroom supplies, and much more.
My Project
We are looking to add a new table with chairs to our classroom!
Currently, our chairs are worn, mismatched, the straps are broken or missing, and just plain old.
We are trying to transition our students into sitting at a table with actual chairs instead of high chairs. This is a very important self-help skill that will delay our students in feeding themselves, drinking out of cups, being able to partake in group activities, and much more if we are unable to help them transition.
