My Students
Many of the students in my teaching community come to school with a smile and an eager learning attitude, they have challenges that they have to overcome before coming to school.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, in Atlanta, I know that my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
These young scholars want to learn and make good choices. Sometimes peer pressure may sneak in and cause them not to make the best of.
My Project
The scholars in my teaching community have many disadvantages. The disadvantages are seen throughout the school day. For many of these scholars they do not and never will be able to recognize the disadvantages. One disadvantage they have is the lack of understanding of dressing properly during the winter months and for the weather. Many of my scholars do not have hats and gloves for the winter months and cool fall evenings. A lot of the scholars have hand me down coats that don't have a hood either. When the weather becomes cold and bitter, these scholars do not have gloves or socks to give them a layer of protection against the wind and cold air. I am requesting gloves and hats to provide to scholars at my school.
